I bought this particular Hi-Point about 2.5 yrs ago for 199$ brand new. That is not a typo. The guns are some of the most affordable guns around...
http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/
Quick comparison: Alot of people wonder where Hi-point gets their design for their guns, well now you can see where.

I no longer have this gun having sold it but here's my little run down on this gun-

PROS-

Digested over 300 of my own .45 acp reloads w/no problems.
Affordable.
Excellent customer service, I had to get a part for the grip that had broke upon being dropped and they shipped one no questions asked in a few days upon calling them.
Nice colored sights that were easy to see, came w/a ghost ring site also.
I can't recall having one jam or misfeed, I did have one round I reloaded get stuck in the barrel from not having any/enough gunpowder.
Certain one of the more unusual looking guns you'll find, good for a few laughs if you bring it to a range.

CONS-

Horrible gun to take down to clean, just difficult and easy to lose small pieces. You need a pin punch and a hammer to take apart (no kidding), very frustrating. this always bothered me about the gun.
Will have little resale value.
The grips are a little slick, especially if your hands are sweaty or a little wet.
At around 32 ozs I believe, can be a little heavy.
Why does the magazine well on the mag have to be so damn big? I never understood this either...
Very hard to conceal due to size and monstrous magazine well.

All in all, not sure if I'd get another one, I think for the price and customer selection, makes them very attractive but If I'm in the market for a cheap gun I think I'll try a Makarov or a FEG PA-63 which can be had even cheaper..

Taurus 44 Magnum Model M44C

AKA "Thor's Hammer" Ah the one that got away..for now. This was my first revolver I ever purchased, I recently sold it to get my current CCW-a Glock 23.

This was a fun gun to shoot, I really regret not getting some "action" shots of this one firing w/some 240 gr American Eagle JHP, you gotta see the fireball and concussion it creates. Ever since selling this one I've mildly regretted it. But I'm not through w/the big bore revos yet..

Nice intimidating shot. The gun was a little hefty for carry concealed all day but I did it for most of the summer. I carried it IWB w/one of those cheap nylon holsters. Its a 5 shot revo so I had to lug around an HKS speedloader along w/it. The speedloader was kind of tricky carrying around too..But the weight of it all got too ya if you don't use a good holster. One aspect that would be a detriment to carrying it concealed is the thunderous concussion blast, and I won't want to be inside a vehicle or indoors blasting w/it. But if you had to use it and your life is on the line the last thing your worried about is the noise..

You can see the porting on this picture a bit. My favorite loads for it were a tamed down, 12 grains of Accurate No.5 along w/CCI 300 primers and 240 grain SWC, make for a nice shooting round that didn't bind up the cylinder either, like the factory ammo did from time to time. The fiber optic front sight was a nice feature and for 349$ the guns not a bad deal (from discountgundealer.com). The cylinder binding on hot ammo and the cylinder release latch got a little loose before I sold it, those were the only problems I had w/it. (So much for revolvers being so much more reliable!) My most memorable shot was hitting a pop can at 25 yds w/it a few times. It was a good shootin' gun.
One of the funniest experiences w/it was loading it w/4 of my lighter reloads and putting 1 of the UMC 240 gr rounds in it, I had a co-worker shoot it the first shot was the hot factory round, it caught him a bit off guard and he wanted no more of it.
Overall, a good solid gun and I'd get another one..

Greetings from Michigan

Welcome to my new blog where I will be posting various action shots of guns (most are not mine)
and posting my reviews and opinions on guns, ammo and anything gun related.
